the peak of
Bico do Papagaio, or 'Parrot Beak', is located in the Western part
of tijuca Forest National Park. It is 890 metres high and from its peak one
can see the great breadth and vastness of the forest, and its commanding
interaction with the city of Rio.
Sights from
the lookout near the top of the ascent are
awe-inspiring, spanning the
peak of Tijuca, the Anhanguera, Pedra do Conde,
christ on corcovado, sugar loaf,
niterói, and the emerald coasts that lap Rio's bays. From the very tip of
the beak Rio's west materialises- revealing
barra da tijuca, recreio, pedra branca
and
marambaia.
